At Ricky's Rascals Animal Rescue, we rescue abandoned, neglected, and abused animals. We prioritize their health and well-being, ensuring they receive the care they need to thrive. Our adoption fees start at $300 and go up from there depending on the medical we have invested in. We make sure your pet is perfectly healthy before they leave for their forever home.

🐾❤️ HOW DOES OUR ADOPTION PROCESS WORK? ❤️🐾

We get asked this all the time, so here’s exactly what to expect when you come to Ricky’s Rascals looking for your new family member.

Our goal isn’t to make adoption difficult. Our job is to make sure every animal leaving our rescue is going into a safe, appropriate and permanent home.

🐶 STEP 1 — COME MEET THE ANIMAL

Come into the rescue and spend some time with the dog, puppy or cat you’re interested in. We want you to actually meet them before making a decision.

📝 STEP 2 — COMPLETE AN APPLICATION

If you fall in love, you’ll complete our adoption application and provide a valid photo ID.

🔍 STEP 3 — BACKGROUND & SOCIAL MEDIA REVIEW

We conduct a soft criminal background check and may review publicly available social media as part of our screening process.

🏡 STEP 4 — HOME REVIEW

We conduct an online home review to help make sure the home is appropriate for the animal.

If you rent, you’ll need to provide your lease or documentation showing that pets are permitted.

📞 STEP 5 — REFERENCES

Depending on the application, we may contact your veterinarian and/or personal references.

📄 STEP 6 — APPROVAL & ADOPTION CONTRACT

Once approved, you’ll review and sign our adoption contract. Adoption fees can be paid by cash or credit card. The person whose name is on the credit card must be present.

🥣 STEP 7 — GETTING READY TO GO HOME

We require adopters to purchase the food the animal is currently eating so their diet isn’t suddenly changed. If the animal needs a properly fitted collar or other necessary supplies, those will need to be purchased as well.

❤️ THEN IT’S TIME TO GO HOME!

When everything checks out, same-day adoption may be possible.

Please understand that submitting an application does not guarantee approval. We reserve the right to deny an application when we believe a home is not the appropriate fit for a particular animal.

And one thing we take very seriously:

Please be honest with us.

If you tell us you own your home, have a fenced yard, are already on your way, or provide other information that turns out to be untrue, your application may be denied. Trust matters when we're placing an animal into someone's care.

Here’s the truth…
We don’t cut corners.
We don’t guess.

We invest in PREVENTION — so YOU don’t get hit with thousands in vet bills later.
Before an animal even steps foot into our facility, we have already invested $400–$600 into:

✔️ Medications
✔️ Preventatives
✔️ Initial care
And that’s just the beginning…
🐾 Every animal goes through a minimum 2-week quarantine
🐾 Tested for viruses and parasites
🐾 Treated if needed
🐾 Vaccinated
🐾 Must test NEGATIVE before entering our facility
🐾 Receive their second round of vaccines before adoption
🐾 Spayed or neutered (or scheduled and covered by us)
We don’t rush the process.
We do it RIGHT.
